Joseph HASKINS and Elizabeth ?______ lived at PutnamTwp before William HUTTON took possession in 1785. The Haskins were one of the first two actual settlers of Wolford Twp, along with Joseph Easton of Easton's Corners. Joseph Haskins was a Loyalist and was granted a land Patent for 200 acres, 17 May 902, Wolford Lot 25, Conc A. In 1806 Joseph erected a saw-mill on a farm "now owned by Mr. Omstead, near the railway station, one of the first two saw-mills on the Rideau". (Leavitt, 1879)
