Born on 28 April 1891 in Smiths Falls, Ontario - son of William McGillivray, Smiths Falls, Ontario - at the time of his conscription in 1918: single; Presbyterian; trade as bookkeeper; no current or previous military service; height of 5 feet 5.5 inches; chest of 36 inches fully expanded; fair complexion; blue eyes; light brown hair.
Conscripted into the 1st Depot Battalion, Eastern Ontario Regiment, CEF, in Kingston, Ontario, on 1 February 1918 (number 3056420) - taken on the strength of the 38th Battalion, CEF, on 10 or 11 June 1918 - struck off the strength of the 38th Battalion on 16 June 1919.

At home, surrounded by his family Sunday December 23, 2012 at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Elaine (nee Dorion), for 56 years. ... Son of the late Stanley and Florence McGillivray, predeceased by brothers Douglas and Stuart. He will be dearly missed by all of his brother Doug’s children and their families as well as the Dorion and Pepe families in Montreal California and Gatineau. Forever remembered by his colleagues, dear friends, the hockey community and his dog Duke. Member of the Sons of Scotland, Royal Canadian Legion (Aylmer Branch) and Aylmer Heritage Association. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) Saturday December 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held Sunday in the Chapel at 2 pm. Interment at Bellevue Cemetery, Aylmer at a later date. For those wishing, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, SPCA or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
